UTC Jul 10, 2018 The long-time owner of popular Hattiesburg night spot Shenanigans Bar and Grill has died. George Gilbert passed away Friday at the age of 68, according to officials at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home. Gilbert also owned the Fun Factory in the 1980s, which featured video games, pool and other amusements for youngsters and teenagers. Tim Webster, 51, remembers going to the Fun Factory and interacting with Gilbert there. "I was probably 17-years-old," he said. "He was always there to give us advice, whether it was what we wanted to hear or not. "There were so many of us kids going to that game room." Webster stayed in touch with Gilbert as the two got older and hopes to have a reunion of Fun Factory members in Gilbert's memory. "George was an outstanding pool player," Webster remembered. "He taught many of us how to play pool. "That was probably one of the high points of his life — being able to hang out with us kids. He was a daddy figure to us." ...
